In the morning, you travel south to the river town of Cai Be, a rural district of Tien Giang province in the Mekong Delta region of Vietnam. You will embark on a journey through the Cai Be river to visit the handicraft village and orchards by boat.
You will experience the vibrant life on the delta, as you observe the intricacies of the local commerce, where merchants purchase products directly from the farmers. During the cruise through the town’s secluded canals, you will visit various workshops, witnessing the locals making popular items such as puffed rice cakes, rice paper, coconut candies, and other products derived from coconut trees.
The highlight of the cruise in Cai Be will be the traditional wooden sampan, which will take you on a serene journey through the narrow, natural waterways. You will stop at a local home to sample seasonal fruits (such as longan, pineapple, watermelon, rambutan, papaya, and jackfruit) and take a stroll through the orchards, observing how the farmers tend to their fruit trees.
