Day 1: Arrive in Luang Prabang (4-Star Hotel)
Welcome to Luang Prabang in Laos, enjoy a short transfer to the hotel and free relax and explore the first impressive Laos.
Day 2: Luang Prabang City (Breakfast, Lunch/Cycling 20 km)
Meet your guide in the early morning and get fitted on one of our quality mountain bikes. We will ride a short distance to the Mekong River, where we’ll board a ferry to cross. In this tour—our newest venture on the opposite side of the Mekong—you’ll have the chance to meet villagers, see local animals, and try local snacks along the way.
We’ll enjoy a looping circuit of about 20 km (approximately 3 hours) of medium biking on dirt roads with some hills. There’s plenty of shade along the route, and you’ll feel a world away from Luang Prabang, with very few other tourists and traffic.
Take in the view of Luang Prabang from the riverbed as we ride on gravel roads, passing rice fields and stunning landscapes. We will stop in a village to sample local snacks and observe the daily life around us. Continuing on single tracks, we will pass farmlands and livestock, so be sure to have your camera ready for the stunning sights.
We will pause again in another village for cold drinks and to watch the locals go about their daily routines. After exploring on the single tracks, we’ll ride briefly on tarmac to the ferry. Lunch will be waiting at a local restaurant near the ferry landing, with your guide accompanying you every step of the way. Overnight in Luang Prabang!
Day 3: Luang Prabang – Mount Phousi, Almsgiving, Pak Ou Caves (Breakfast, Lunch / Cycling 65km)
We start our morning early, giving alms at the various temples in the city. We’ll find a spot along the roadside to witness the serene procession of orange-clad novices and monks collecting donations from the local community.
Following the procession, we’ll embark on a short hike to the top of Mount Phousi to take in the early morning bustle of the town. Afterward, we’ll return to the hotel for breakfast.
Our ride today will take us north of the city to Pak Ou, home to the famous Buddha Cave. This sacred site is a key attraction in the area and continues to be a place of worship to this day. We’ll enjoy a local-style lunch on the beach at Pha An, and if time permits, we can take a refreshing swim in the Nam Ou River before cycling back to Luang Prabang.
Day 4: Kuang Si Waterfalls (Breakfast, Lunch / Trek 8km & Cycle 27km)
We begin with a short transfer to the village of Long Lao, a thriving Hmong community made up of around 80 families. The community has developed an excellent 8km trail that leads to the top of Kuang Si Falls, where we can enjoy lunch and a swim in the crystal-clear waters.
On our way back to the city, we’ll stop at the Laos Water Buffalo Dairy. Here, we’ll explore this unique community project that educates locals in animal husbandry and welfare, while also providing valuable income and diversification for remote rural villages. Plus, we’ll have a chance to sample some truly amazing ice cream!
Day 5: Luang Prabang to Kasi (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner / Cycling 65km)
A two-hour transfer by minivan takes us to Kiu Kacham, located at an altitude of 1350 meters. During the first part of this stage, we’ll cycle between 1000 and 1400 meters towards Phou Khoun. After passing through Phou Khoun, we’ll enjoy a long descent with stunning views that will lead us into the valley of Kasi. We’ll spend the night in Vang Vieng!
Day 6: Kasi – Vang Vieng (Breakfast, Lunch/Cycling 48km)
Today will be much easier as we cover a shorter distance over gently rolling hills to Vang Vieng, where we’ll arrive in time for lunch. In the afternoon, you can choose to visit Tham Xang, set amid the dramatic scenery along the banks of the Nam Song River. Relax with a Lao beer and enjoy the sunset over the mountains you have just crossed. If we make good time, we can take a refreshing dip.
Day 7: Vang Vieng to Nam Ngum Lakeside (Breakfast, Lunch/Cycling 43km)
It’s an easy day today. After breakfast, you’ll cycle to the “sea of Laos,” an artificial lake covering 250 square kilometers—Nam Ngum. A 2-hour boat ride will take us to our hotel, where you can relax poolside and enjoy the sunset over the lake. Overnight in Ban Kuene District.
Day 8: Nam Ngum to Vientiane (Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner/Cycling 50 km)
You’ll want a hearty breakfast today, as it’s a busy morning. First, we’ll cycle to the Laos Conservation Trust to learn about their mission to protect endangered species in Southeast Asia. Afterwards, you’ll ride through scenic paddy fields with beautiful views of the Phou Khao Khouay mountain range before entering the capital city of Laos, Vientiane. As you ride through the suburbs, you’ll make your way to the bustling historical center along the banks of the Mekong River. We’ll conclude the trip with a final Sindat meal by the river for a taste of local flavor. Overnight in Vientiane!
Day 9: Vientiane Departure (Breakfast included)
Free time to relax at the hotel until you take your own way to the next destination or you cen extend the stay in this beautiful capital.
